Local authorities usually keep lists of professional tree workers from your area, the Forestry contracting association, arboricultural association or international arborist society will also keep lists of their members who are tree workers.

TREE FAMILY:

Angiosperm - Broadleaf trees i.e. oak, ash, walnut.

Gymnosperm - Conifers

Most broadleaf trees are hardwood and are deciduous i.e. they lose their leaves during autumn.

Most conifers are softwood and evergreen.

All trees are susceptible to decay and disease through injury of limbs, stem or roots. Defects to the stem or limbs can be seen visually or with specialist equipment, Looking for defects of the roots normally involves digging areas of root plate and inspecting the roots visually.

There are certain things to took for when assessing trees, i.e. Fungi, dead branches, splits in the branches or main stem or early leaf fall.

Obviously there are many tree defects that can not be seen without specialist equipment and knowledge so if in doubt contact a reputable tree care business.
