We Care About Trees...

Monmouth Tree Services

2002 to 2012 - 10 Years of Trees!

It is now 10 years since Monmouth Tree Services was formed with the aim of providing quality tree services in Monmouthshire and in that time we have gained experience of all aspects of arboriculture & woodland management from sensitive pruning of 800 year old Oaks to felling 120ft pine trees.

From the very beginning our work was carried out with nature in mind and we were keen to keep ecological disruption to a minimum whilst carrying out our work. This was noted by our local authority countryside service who in 2004 endorsed our practice of leaving dead wood within tree canopies for invertebrate habitats and feeding areas which in turn promoted bat and bird conservation.

Building on this ecological ethos, we are now actively involved with projects in sites of special scientific interest and special areas of conservation. Monmouthshire has many ancient wooded areas which have some of the best biodiversity in the country. It is also one of the most important areas for veteran trees of many differing species from small leafed Lime to Yew and Oaks.  These trees are a haven for wildlife providing food and habitats for many different species including Protected Dormice, Bats and Owls. Bats especially use trees for foraging, breeding, hibernation and even navigation therefore we have to be very careful when pruning or felling trees especially old hollow trees. A bat surveying course provided by the Bat Conservation Trust along with working and training with Monmouthshire bat group has been a real help and has enabled us to give our customers the right advice concerning bats in trees.

We now routinely carry out a bat habitat survey if we have any reason to suspect it is being used as a roost or is  a potential roost. There is sometimes a clash of interests due to old hollow trees (used by bats & owls) becoming dangerous when near to roads or buildings. Working together with the bat group, the Countryside Council for Wales, Natural England and our local county tree officers &  ecologist  we are able to ensure we take the right approach and actions when we work on these types of trees,  many of which do not need to be felled completely therefore saving valuable wildlife habitats.

We are looking forward to another 10 years of tree work & conservation and would like to say a big thank you to all our customers for making it possible.

Monmouth Tree Services provide a very competitive high quality arboriculture service to private and commercial customers.

Based in Monmouth we mainly cover the South Wales and the West Midlands area but are also able to operate further over a much wider area when necessary.

The quality of our arboriculture work is second to none, and we are able to carry out all aspects of arboriculture from planting the smallest tree to felling the largest most dangerous of trees.

We provide FREE ESTIMATES for all our work and always leave the work area clean and tidy on completion of operation. No job is too big or too small.

We provide a comprehensive service including tree hazard recognition and assessment, tree risk assessment, disease and pest recognition/treatment, pruning, thinning, felling, in fact everything to do with trees.

Established in 1999 we pride ourselves on the quality of our work and customer care. We go to great effort to ensure our customers are happy with our work and punctuality and as a result we are able to offer excellent references from our existing customers.

Arboriculture is about caring for trees and learning about tree systems, not just cutting them down without regard for the environment. We work closely with local authority and environmental / animal welfare groups to ensure there is no effect to the environment or wild life when we carry out our operations.

With ecology in mind we use biodegradable oil for our chainsaws and offer to plant new trees when we are unable to save the existing tree. We also recycle all our cuttings to create wood mulch and use the larger wood for furniture and wood fuel.

When we carry out operations we use only the best equipment and are up to date with the latest technology. We operate to British Standard 3998 / 1989 and always take health and safety into account when planning operations.

All of our operators are fully insured and qualified giving customers peace of mind and confidence in our work. We are also members of the Forestry Contracting Association.

Monmouth Tree Services advertise through local newspapers, magazines and local pages as well as Yellow Pages.

The pictures on this web site are just a small example of the many operations we carry out each year, we are also involved in woodland management and research on urban & woodland trees and offer advice to land owners, building developers and businesses.
